However I wanted a WAAS-approved unit and so opted for the 480. I have now used the 480 on a couple long cross country trips and although it does program differently it seems to be as capable as the 530. The 530 would be easier to use but only because that is where my experience lies. I do miss the terrain identification of roads, river, and lakes on the 480 as that added good VFR cross references.
