Wow! That’s impressive – is he
still running a fixed pitch prop? I had a long conversation with Klaus at Oshkosh several years ago
about how he was getting such performance out of his O-200, and at that time he
was running a wood fixed pitch prop at very high rpms. I remember being curious
about the degree to which he balanced his prop because as I recall there was a
fairly significant prop shaft extension coming off the crank flange.

Sorry, Larry! Klaus turns less than 3100 rpm, much to
everyone's surprise and amazement. Most think the same as you, that he must be
turning F1-style rpm, but he doesn't. How do I know? I designed his
Plasma CDI and EFI and am privy to all of his test data.
