2) How does the
TruTrack Sorcerer Autopilot compare with the STec 55X in capabilities?
Which/what autopilot would you recommend based on your
experiences?
I can't speak first
hand of the sorcerer (because I haven't flown mine yet) but I do have a
55x.
of the 55x I can
say

never solved the porpoise problem when tracking a glideslope at low
altitude. granted this is on an unusual installation - a c172RG.....oh, a
IVP is sort of unusual too isn't it?
- it
took me almost a year to debug the (rest of ) the installtion. turned out
to be a broken plastic housing on a dsub connector.

factory support is abysmal
- rate
controlled is great for reliability but it's a rough (strange yawing motions and
short term heading deviations) ride in turbulence

doesn't have speed hold mode in climb (vs. vertical speed hold)
In short, if the trutrak
does even half as well as I expect I will be happy not to have another stec
product
