I read somewhere that more and more fire trucks are being delivered in a bright yellow (as opposed to the traditional red) because it's more visible. Whether that's being done because of real test data or because someone opined that it "ought" to be so, I don't know.

Perhaps the next time someone encounters a fire truck at 10,000 ft, they'll let us know.
