At the speeds the Legacy is capable of and given the TAS600's  7nm  range,
will it give me enough time to properly react?

 Kevin,
extrapolating from flying TIS in Bay area in my cutlass at up to 150knots
ground speed,
I think 7nm is enough.  The most difficult problem with the TIS was delayed
update.   e.g.
traffic at 12 o'clock, 1 mile 400 feet below, what do you do?   (hint "UP" is
the wrong answer).
The most useful thing about TIS is that it shows you that you really want
active TCAD.
You shouldn't have that problem with the TAS600.

that said, I still vote for dayglo orange on the leading edges, nose and
upper wing surfaces.
 and flashers.

    TAS doesn't help when:
    a) traffic is a cub or crop duster with no mode c (and they are landing at
your destination)
    b) traffic is a sailplane at your cruise altitude with no mode c or radio
    c) traffic is close in but you turned betty off because you are near the
ground.
