Also,
The "metal to metal" impact might be more likely to
damage the strut mounting than the strut itself.
I suggest you look for bending there and check for
proper retraction / extension of the nose gear.
And, depending on the design of the strut, not
having pressure may allow the wheel to turn while retracted
and jam in the well when you want gear
down.
