 You should be advised that once the exhaust is coated it cannot be repaired
  by welding if any cracks develop later.
 
 Placing an insulating ceramic coating on the outside of the exhaust plumbing
will make the metal run hotter.  Is that your goal?
 
 
The exhaust on my LNC2 was coated on the outside for appearance and coated on the inside for heat dissipation.  I have had two cracks welded and a ball joint welded in line with no problems concerning the welding repair with the exterior coatings in place.  (the exterior coating has to be ground away in the area to be welded)
