That is a topic for the Lancair forum (will be presented at OSH) and HPAT sessions. The short version is: get good training, follow the advice of the wise ones, stay out of thunderstorms, don't overload the aricraft, don't stall close to the ground and don't do anything stupid.

I have had some trouble with your last item.  Luckily, my good angel (and some spare cash) has assisted in resolving those issues to date.  I have benefited greatly from the experience of others and, alas, my own non-fatal bumbles and stumbles (seldom repeating the event leading to a lesson).
