As an ES builder, I usually just lurk on this list, but I couldn't help
adding my 2 cents worth on the subject of pitot tubes. Attached is an
article by Eric M. Jones of the Periheliondesign.com web site. He
designed a pitot tube that uses Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC)
thermistors to automatically maintain a pre-determined temperature.
(See attached copy) The PTC thermistors are self-regulating, meaning
that you turn it on and leave it on. While I'm just a neophyte
electronic tinkerer, I couln't help but think that maybe this technology
could be applied to our Lancairs.
