That requirement basically means that you must be able to control the position of your aircraft. You shouldn't have to think about which way to move the stick to get the desired result. That part should be automatic before you are ready to learn formation flight. Most of the beginners showing up for this clinic will have adequate stick and rudder skills, but there are additional safeguards. Newcomers will fly with experienced formation pilots on their first sorties to
evaluate whether they are ready, and also to help with the new skills of hand and voice communications.
