Plane crashes into Utah Lake PDF | Print | E-mail
Daily Herald
A plane crashed into Utah Lake late Thursday night. None of the three men on board, who are all Utah County residents, have been found.

"We always hope we'll find a survivor," said Utah County Lt. Dennis Harris.

The single engine turboprop Lancair left from St. George at 10 p.m., on its way to Provo. The last contact with the plane was at 11:45 p.m., when the pilot radioed the Salt Lake Airport to say he was approaching the Provo Airport. At 3 a.m., someone called the police saying the plane was overdue.

Searchers started looking for the plane at first light Friday. They have found the tail end of the plane and a debris field in Utah Lake, but weather is hampering the seach. A dive team from the Utah Department of Public Safety is assisting local searchers.

The debris in the lake is about 2 miles west of the Provo Boat Harbor, spread about a mile long and a little more than a mile wide.
