The single engine turboprop Lancair left from St. George at 10 p.m., on its way to Provo. The last contact with the plane was at 11:45 p.m., when the pilot radioed the Salt Lake Airport to say he was approaching the Provo Airport. At 3 a.m., someone called the police saying the plane was overdue. Searchers started looking for the plane at first light Friday. They have found the tail end of the plane and a debris field in Utah Lake, but weather is hampering the seach. A dive team from the Utah Department of Public Safety is assisting local searchers. The debris in the lake is about 2 miles west of the Provo Boat Harbor, spread about a mile long and a little more than a mile wide. A plane crashed into Utah Lake late Thursday night. None of the three men on= board, who are all Utah County residents, have been found.

The last contact with the plane was at 11= :45 p.m., when the pilot radioed the Salt Lake Airport to say he was approac= hing the Provo Airport. At 3 a.m., someone called the police saying the plan= e was overdue.
