In response to Jim, regarding the subject of gear free-fall operation.
My only comment is that, when everything is working correctly, your gear
should drop, without hydro assist, quicker than when driven down.
Maybe I am just lucky but when I do a free-fall drop test, (I slow to about
120 MPH IAS) my gear is down with a decided "clunk, clunk, clunk" in about
3 - 4 seconds. If it didn't operate like this, I'd go looking for a problem
on the ground. I think you should get the same sort of performance.
Of course, I've only got experience with my airplane (an early 235), but in
the 500 + hours of flying it, this is how this particular one responds.
