true story: IFR flight plan late landing at night at
Watsonville, CA never been there before, no ILS
approach circle to land due to winds icing at 2500
feet, panel lights went not functioning, aoa very
visible but busy in the approach, poor visibility of
runway due to marine layer, very short runway ahead,
on the 90 degree turn to the runway despite 100 kts on
the a/s indicator undershoot runway so wing loaded
imperceptible immediately "angle, angle, push!!!!
released immediately pressure on the stick not looking
at all at the instrument panel or airspeed or aoa,
just visual warning, warning went out, landing safely
afterwards. do not even argue about it, get one, first
thing we put on the rv-8 we are building, aoa... stay
safe
