Lorn and those of you whom have had the hydraulic pump serviced, what
symptoms did you have to indicate this was necessary?
I had problems with a nose gear door fully open in flight, the symptom of
which was an aerodynamic " buzzing " noise from the front of the aircraft.
It was suggested that perhaps I had the reversed spool valve problem. I
pulled the pump apart and found no spool valve inside. I cannabalised my old
pump and installed a spool valve in the new pump. The problem was
solved.
Unfortunately I am again getting an buzzing noise/vibration
(only worse) above 130kts, which I suspect is a nose gear door
partially ajar in flight. I thought it may be the exhaust vibrating, however
this was tightened and the noise persists.
I wonder would the
valve which had been present in the old pump for over 10 years have finally
deteriorated or started to deteriorate?
So what symptoms have people
had in old pumps?
Also the contact I pulled from the
archives for Oildyne was Edward Van Hecke..is he still "the
man"
