After responding to Peter's mail about putting the inflatable seal on the canopy it occurred to me, a bit late, that this would be more difficult than I at first thought due to the way the seal is built. The flat back side of the seal is really the only surface that can be glued to something on the airplane. The opposite side of the seal is the one that is designed to expand outward under pressure so you don't want glue (sealant, whatever) on it. The inlet tube to the seal protrudes perpendicularly from the back. So, the inlet tube has to pass through whatever surface the seal is glued to. Because of this I don't think it would be practical to mount the seal on the canopy.

That seal is inflatable, right, so it requires plumbing from the air pump to
the seal itself. If you put it on the canopy, there is no way to plumb it.
The little fitting on the seal would have no place to go, and you'd have to
include enough plumbing to allow the canopy to be raised/lowered. While it
could be engineered, I'm not sure it's worth the hassles.
