If you mount the seal on the canopy how do you plan to handle the hose from the air pump to the seal? It's really simple when the seal is mounted on the fuselage. Once it's in place everything is fixed, nothing moves. With the seal on the canopy the hose will need to move to handle the canopy movement. And based on a friend's recent experience the junction of the hose connection to the seal can be kind of fragile. I've been in and out of my friend's plane many times and have done quite a bit of work behind the panel. So far the fuselage mounted seal has not been an issue.
