My aileron trim is via springs attached to the bottom of each stick which connect at their other ends to a 1/16" cable. This cable comes from the spring at each side, turns 90 deg up into the console, 90 deg in, then are wound several times around a phenolic drum. The drum is turned via a knob through the top of the console through a 3:1 ratio. Spring trim deflects the ailerons the required amount to balance the spring force. The ailerons will deflect more at low speed and less at high speed. This means that a lateral unbalance, once trimmed, will stay trimmed regardless of speed, so you don't have to increase aileron deflection as you slow down to land; it does it automatically!
