I put a trim tab on my left elevator operated from a lever on the console. I used 0.062" SS solid wire (ACS) through the bicycle cable conduit rather than the much heavier and stiffer Bowden cable. 'Works just fine, and gives a much better speed-sensitive trim than the Lancair spring trim; I've flown with both. Spring trim balances a force or longitudinal unbalance and is not speed sensitive. A trim tab supplies a force proportional to V^2, so reacts better to maintain trim speed with longitudinal unbalance, such as with burning off fuel. Both require some trim change over time, just less with a tab.
