and they were stuck in full up position.Flew home and started tear down, flaps
were jammed in reflex(about3/4")so hard I could not remove the pin on the flap
motor clevis end, disconnected flap push rods and press. was relieved enough to
remove pin and then motor asm.all seems to work well on test but seems to
coast about 1/2" when power is removed, these motors are supposed to stop
immediately I believe.Still doesn't explain why it would not move flaps down
even before they were jammed in up position?removed motor gears all look good
anybody know if you can buy the motor
separately.
Gene,
Assuming you do not have outback gear, look at the flap wiring diagram in
either the POH or builders manual. Also, look at the installation
instructions for the flap motor.
The flap motor has magnetic reed switches that sense the extent of the
motor movement (the position of the metallic stabilizing rod. These
could have come loose or need adjustment. If you look at the wiring
diagram, you will see that there are relays which provide power in a way that
stops the flap motor from coasting. Check these relays and all the
associated wiring.
