In regards to the fly-in at Joliet: I attended on Saturday with N65BJ and
another LNC2 builder. I do not have specific numbers on airplanes but I
would estimate that there was about 10 LNC2's, one Lancair IV and one IVP.
I would say that the fly-in was a success from my perspective. I know I
enjoyed it. I don't know how Sunday turned out. Rain was forecast for
Sunday.
I picked up a good idea from looking at Scott Krueger's plane. At his
cooling air inlets, he has the interior tapered back to provide smoother air
flow and reported 15 degree reduction in cylinder head temperature. I am
working on something similar for my cowling. I will provide report and
pictures when finished and tested.
The only thing that I would complain about to the fly-in organizers was that
dinner was not ready on time. The flier said dinner "3:30 to 5:30". I
didn't get my pig until 4:25. They started serving at 4:20. But I did see
the people who were cutting the pig chowing down on as they were cutting. I
could tell because their jaws were moving. If they have it next year, I
suggest they get some one who can plan a meal and have it ready on time.
