The west coast has recently been enjoying a few weeks of great flying
weather.  So, it was time to stir up the air with a Lancair flight.

I had the pleasure of hosting an informal lunch get together Friday
for 4 Lancair pilots, with 3 planes flying and 1 driving in to KMFR.

Don Barnes brought his Legacy up by trailer from the San Jose area to
Medford for paint and interior upgrades and needed a ride back south.
So, Scott Alair (Legacy), Mike Reinath (360), and Jim Coelho (Legacy)
all decided to provide Don a ride back in mass.  Scott and Mike arrived
about 10:30 from the San Jose area, and Jim arrived at nearly the same
time from Fresno.

The Scott/Mike flight arrived in smart formation with an impressive
formation landing and taxi to Jet Center North FBO where Don was busy
with Steve Green preparing his Legacy for some exterior paint upgrades.

After some 'ramp chat' we all went to Steve's hanger and provided some
verbal support for the painting to Don's Legacy.  Following an off-field
lunch, the 6 of us went to Melissa's hanger to check out the IVPT
interior currently underway while Don and Melissa discussed upgrades for
Don's Legacy interior.

Then after a visit to the Showplanes (RV/Rocket builders assist) hanger,
it was back to the flight line to fuel up at the self-service island for
the return flight south.  Since fuel prices here are somewhat lower than
in north/central California, everyone topped their tanks.

After strapping on the pilot oxygen lines, the departure at 3:30 of the
4 pilots was impressive as a flight of 3 with Don, Scott and Mike in
tight formation and Jim close in trail.  Even with my long lens (300) on
the camera, it was a tough photo shoot as they were quickly up and away
as Lancairs do.  I would like to have tagged along for a distance in my
LNC2, but probably wouldn't have been able to keep up with those hot rods.

I had a great time with my Lancair friends and look forward to planning
a Lancair breakfast/lunch fly-in here at KMFR in July.
