When I first started flying the plane I had an unexplained
vibration/noise usually at higher airspeeds and typically in the descent.
It was first thought to be the nose gear door, but reprofiling
it, adjusting the hydraulic cylinder and generally ensuring a good fit did not
cure the problem.
The glare shield was eventually found to be the culprit.
It is unsupported at the front and can vibrate freely. We stuffed a foam
cowl plug in there whilst in flight one day and the noise stopped.
