My fuel pressure usually reads 3 lbs. I have a VM-800. On takeoff it will sometimes start beeping and show a pressure of .5 to 1.5 lbs. When and if I turn on the electric pump the pressure goes up to about 4 lbs. I have an O-320 engine. At full throttle, full rich and 1,000 ft my fuel consumption is 11.5 GPH and my EGT's read 1,520°F.

Gerard,
...the fuel pressure normally sits at 2 psi, just above redline in the cruise, but intermittently (and apparently spontaneously) wanders to 5psi before returning to 2 psi.
