Subject: Weight on Nosewheel of Various Lancairs

A few ES's have been experiencing some violent shimmy in the nosewheel.  We know that removing the wheel pant makes it go away.  If we take off the wheel pant, we have a IV nosewheel, down and bolted.  ES's tend to be near the forward CG limit most of the time. Some of the worst shimmy is on ES's with TSIO engines.

We know the mass of the wheel pant is a major factor, but I'm guessing ES's have more weight on the nosewheel than other models.  Maybe a lot more.

I am trying to compile some data on how much weight is on the nosewheel of the various Lancair models, specifically the Legacy and the IVP, IVPT.  I can do the numbers for my ES.

What I would like is some weight and balance numbers and the moments of the main gear and the nosewheel.  I also need the CG limits for each model.  I can back the numbers into the weights on the wheels.  Or maybe you still have your raw date from your original calculations.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Easley
