Hello all,

I have decided to buy a new cowl for the bird to be put on after testing.
The current guy is just too beat up.

I have seen a Glassair with piano hinge holding the halves of the cowl
together.  Has anyone done this for the LNC2?

Has anyone used Dzus or other quick fittings along the cowl to fuselage
join?

Should I just add more glass to the current cowl and not spend the $$$'s?
The problems are all cosmetic and enlarged holes in the top half.

Not flying yet...

Gerard

[The piano hinge attachment method outlined in the manual for the front
deck works fine for holding the cowling halves together... a local Glasair
guy machined some 3/4" long #8 SS allen setscrews and welded them to the
ends of the hinge pin and glassed a small block of AL into the cowl opening
which was tapped for #8 that the setscrews locked into.  Very slick.

As for the beat-up holes on the upper cowl section, why don't you just
bond some proper sized Tinnermans into the cowl to repair the holes and
return them to a correct fit?  Do the cosmetic stuff at the same time.
Kills two birds with one stone.  I hope this helps.         <Marv>    ]
