Incidentally folks, if you have a battery and a alternator on board <G> do
yourself a favor and put one of Bob Nuckolls' Over Voltage Crowbars
(protection device) in the system as well. Sooner or later, your battery may
go belly-up on you (worst case scenario: it fails open) and this little, and
inexpensive device can save all those electronic gee-whizmos in your panel.
Particularly the ones that are only designed to see 12 volts.
Bob's unit senses the resultant tendency to go over voltage in the
microsecond range and forces the Alternator breaker to trip. Shazam! No
alternator output, no over-voltage! Neat, huh?
