The price on the 12 v 17Ah batteries I use in my plane has recently dropped from $68 to $41. I have a 28 volt system so I use two. There are also 28 Ah and 33 Ah versions for less than $60. These are the same batteries B&C sells so their regulator is the best one to use. My plane has been flying for 4 years and I replaced the batteries once "on time", not because of a failure.
