Angier,

Here are pictures of how I supported my exhaust pipes from the back of the
engine. Look carefully and you can see the small pieces of stainless that
provide a smooth pad where the hose clamps attach the end of the supports to
the exhaust pipe. Without these "pads" the hose clamps will soon break
(experience speaking!).  The pipes are clamped together with a 1/2" aluminum
spacer.
This system has held together with no problems for 450 hours.

In this array of clamps, 2 hold the supports to the pipes,  2 retain the
monel rivets which hold the extensions on, and the long clamp holds the two
pipes together against the spacer.

The other picture is a simple extension I made to keep the smoke off the
belly.  It a piece of thin stainless which has stayed on for 2+ years.  I
held it with a hose clamp while twisting the wires, then removed the clamp.
