To all Lancair engine guru's:

As received from the Lycoming factory, my engine is set up for a bottom mounted Precision Airmotive Corporation fuel injection servo unit. As removed from the engine crate, attached to the bottom of the sump on the four studs in the following order are:
1. gasket
2. reddish plastic spacer .25" thick with 2.37" dia center opening
3. another gasket
4. cover plate

My intention is to place a 90° Airflow Performance elbow between the sump and fuel injector, thus resulting in a forward facing fuel injector.
If I remove the .25" spacer, I'll gain another .25" between the fuel injector and the bottom cowl, which would be a very good thing...

Question...is there any good reason why I should not do this, and keep the .25" spacer??

Thanks in advance,

Angier Ames
