The list went thru a "good battery/bad battery" discussion maybe a year or
two ago - check the archives.

I had trouble keeping sealed lead acid, recombinant gas Concorde batteries
alive (RG25) in my LNC2 - three in about four years - though I went to an
adjustable voltage regulator to be able to set the correct alternator output
voltage per their tech gurus. No explanation, no ideas either. Too bad we
can't get Hawker batteries here in the states.

As an aside, one of the RG25's (the last one I'll ever buy) went belly up
while I was on a trip and in desperation, I went to the local Sears and
bought a sealed 25 AH garden tractor battery (only thing available at that
town) and stuck it in for the trip home. (Only thing is - non-aircraft
batteries have the terminals reversed so the ground cable almost didn't
reach). Figured that I'd replace it at home base ASAP. However, in the
spirit of experimental aircraft, I decided to use it a while longer just ot
see how it held up. That was three years ago and it shows no sign of giving
up the ghost. Go figure.
