A 175 KIAS cruise speed gets me to those corner= s=20 rather quickly.=20 However, one place I can=E2=80=99t easily go to is inside the DC ADIZ witho= ut=20 installing temporary 12=E2=80=9D registration numbers on my small aircraft=20= (currently=20 affixed 3=E2=80=9D numbers =E2=80=93 See FAR 45.29(h)). This is a useless r= estriction, as is the =20 ADIZ in general. So much for GA getting close enough to even carry a=20 visitor to our nation=E2=80=99s capitol. =20 Similarly, abusive TFRs have also negatively impacted VFR flight. Here, in= =20 the Chicago area, the lateral extent of the NFL game TFR (Soldier Field)= =20 eliminates a common west to east VFR corridor under the ORD Class B along t= he=20 Eisenhower Expressway. There aren=E2=80=99t enough controllers to handle VF= R traffic=20 (and many times IFR traffic) thru the Class B or MDW Class C.=20 I am opposed to extending or making permanent the ADIZ in the Washington, D= C=20 area. Even though I am not based in that region, I can imagine how=20 severely it must limit simple operations in and around the ADIZ. I came to= this =20 conclusion by considering what a similar 30 NM ADIZ around O=E2=80=99Hare (K= ORD) would =20 mean to this area. =20 Inside such an ORD ADIZ: Besides Midway (KMDW), Waukegan (KUGN), Palwaukee= =20 (KPWK), DuPage (KDPA) and Aurora (KARR), all reliever airports, would be=20 severely affected and the economic impact would be even worse. Lewis Univer= sity=20 (KLOT), specializing in aviation education and training that would be=20 diminished. Naper Aero and Brookeridge, both airpark communities would be=20= devalued. =20 Joliet (KJOT), Lansing (KIGQ) and Gary, IN (KGYY) would have traffic=20 patterns and approaches negatively affected by their closeness to such an A= DIZ (less=20 than 1 mile).
