Mike, if your post read "the Builder/Repairman completed a majority of
the Approved Checklist Tasks" is a lot more to the issue than "a major
portion of the work". That is what caused confusion on hours to
certification. Unfortunately, it is not about complexity, hours
invested or money. It is a focus on archaic task lists. Last year,
more aircraft were completed and certificated as Amateur Built than
Certified under Part 23, in the GA four seat and under category.
Without Cirrus (a former Amateur build team) that number would be even
more skewed to the economic force of Amateur Built FAA Approved Kits.
The Hurricane Warning of the approaching storm is clear.
