I'm not at liberty to say my source, but the FAA is indeed going to start cracking down on some of the building practices. They will not effect most of us, but there is a big red flag raised when Epic announced their jet. The reason the EAA isn't making a big deal of the memo is because they are being kept informed as to what's going on. The EAA is our voice. When they recommend we get concerned then we should do so. The FAA also recognizes that getting assistance from an experienced builder makes the airplane safer. They also recognize the fact that there are a bunch of us killing ourselves needlessly, and are looking at ways to "help". We don't need that kind of help guys. Safety is what drives the policies, and if we become safer there will be less invoked policies. Keep in mind that these people at the FAA that make the desicions that effect us are not part of our experimental aircraft group.
