Scott,
I put in the larger hinge pins like you did and I have not seen any problems
with it.  Have small tail.

The first few hours of flight after the mod., I saw some grease/oil
streaking but attributed that to residual grease.

The important question is "do you find any lateral/relative movement between
the hinge pieces when you push on it?"

Me thinks you worry too much.
