This thread reminds me of another story. I'll
try to be brief.
An A1E "Sandy" pilot was on takeoff during the
Vietnam war when he abruptly lost his engine.
The sudden loss of torque also resulted in a
roll.
He ejected as the plane went past 90 degrees of
bank, swung once in the chute and broke his back when he hit the
runway.
Capt. Randy Jayne was my instructor in T-38 flight
school and this was one of a long list of his experiences
