All the turboprops I've flown had the gas generator (turbine) running at
100% and the prop pitch was changed to change thrust. Admittedly, I've
flown only about 5 and that was some time ago, so senility may be a factor
here. Power response was almost instantaneous. If the Walters operates
similarly, I wouldn't think that lag had any effect. Actually, I would
suspect the opposite. That power response is so rapid as to give inadequate
time to react if you really cob the power at low speed.
