You are 100% correct.  Bull's eye.   We seldom face problems that give no warning.

I know more about Shannon's accident than I want to.  He had ignored a repetitive, very serious warning sign on several previous flights.  A solution had been discussed at length and a recommendation made as to a remedy while we were at OSH.  I suspect he did not act on the recommendation.  He paid a high price for that.  I miss him.
