Yes, I did use the ACS oil
separator as a collection device only. The condensate that collects in it
looks pretty nasty, and I can't see the point of running it back into the
engine. There's also an issue with another hole in the crankcase, meaning
another potential failure point.
At Sun 'n Fun last week, I saw
another air/oil separator that looks very nice -- from Andair, about
$190. It appears to be very well made, like the rest of their products,
and is quite a bit smaller than the ACS can. I'll definitely have one in
my next Legacy. (Put a deposit in at the show.)
