Well, don't have time for a long narrative, but I'd just like to say while I'm about 970 hours shy of your time in the Lancair, I totally concur. Evidence last night....letting down into the Phoenix area (DVT) it was very dark, but I checked on with Luke (AFB) approach. "122LL, roger, traffic 11 o'clock, 3 miles, 2 F-16's at your altitude." "Rog, 2LL is tally two"....who could miss the strobes on a moonless night! A little later, "122LL, additional traffic 3 o'clock, less than a mile, 4000, suggest you maintain 4500." "2LL, rog, tally two more, wilco" Two F-16's in trail just parked off my left wing....the Legacy was keeping right with them! 200KIAS and along we went for about 7 miles. Hard to judge night distance, but they were easily inside of 1/2 mile just parked there. I'm betting they were scratching their heads when the controller called me a "light civil"....
