Walter A,
OK, On a cold day (1C) with the Baro at 29.93" and an airport elevation of
700 MSL, I begin my takeoff roll slowly applying full throttle because of the
strong P-factor and all the other left turning tendencies in my motorized lawn
dart.
Say about 1000 feet down the runway, WOT, at close to 80 KIAS I
see 1290F on cyl#4 EGT.
Rotate, shallow climb, gear up, flaps up and accelerating (about 110
KIAS) I see #4 EGT at 1310F.
About 1400 MSL, in a stabilized climb at 140 KIAS I now see 1330F on #4
EGT.
In cruise at about 6500 MSL, #4 EGT would peak at about 1420-1430F.
I will not be at sea level for quite some time, however I have seen 29.9
MAP as I accelerate to climb speed. Generally, my #4 target EGT is (and has
been) 1290F.
1. Is that a good target or am I being to conservative?
2. If I wanted to use 1310F as the target, is there some a correction
I should make to normalize the EGT to a sea-level value?
3. Am I being to anal? - Wait, don't answer that........
Once again, thanks for Power Pointing to the sample pp presentation.
