Here is a narrative from Bob Sinclair, a 320 award winning builder/flyer out
of Livermore, California.
It was a near perfect day for flying in Northern California ............. We
had a flight of three Lancairs from CCR, or from the
vicinity of CCR as it developed. Phil Pecoraro from Livermore talked me
into hooking up with him at 3,500 feet above
Buchanan Field and as I was in the runup area along came Bob Belshe (also
based at Concord) who took off just ahead of
me. My passenger was Dan Meyer, a 320 builder from Benicia that I have been
mentoring a bit ......... Well .... we climbed
to 3,500 msl where Pecararo proceded to dust us off from above and six
o'clock ....... just a friendly way of saying "let's
get going"! Anyway, with Phil in his 360 we both went after Bob in his
235/320. It took us ten minutes or so to catch up
with him somewhere south of Sacramento. We formed up in an echelon
formation (I'm glad you weren't there to critique
it!) and proceded eastward to Placerville ....... only another fifteen
minutes or so to touchdown.
We all owe the Colwells' a huge thanks for putting such a successful
gathering of fine-feathered birds and builders/fliers
together. There was a lot of enthusiasm for more of these events in this
part of the country
