Just a note on Slick Mag failures. I had three failures on my
lowly 172 180hp. These are the regular vanilla kind. First the left
went over MT. Jefferson with about 150 hours on it. Blew a hole in
the coil. Next the left went again at aprox. 700 hours at 9500 over
McCall Id., with the right one going aprox. 10 hours later on ground run-up at
my home field. Much easier on my mental state. Both of these
failures were said to be caused by carbon tracking. Moral clean and check
before the 500 hour mark, and in my case my ES will have dual Lightspeeds thank
you.
