Nicholas, we used #10 stainless steel flat head screws on ours. #8's are probably OK, but be sure to use the number specified; don't short the plans on this. The #10's give a slight amount more fastener surface area, but we used them primarily because they are easier to get in and out without damage. Also note that there are more screws on the bottom than on the top. The most important step is reinforcing the end of the basic wing skins per the manual. I seem to recall that this is a 10 bid build up and it makes the interface pretty stiff and strong. Have not seen one of these with cracks...
