Angier,
What's wrong with using Unibits to help cut the transition holes through the
hard points in the main spar? They actually seem more "gentle" than the
Dremel cut-off wheels which sometimes tend to want to "melt/burn" the glass
if the rpm's get too high and/or the wheel gets dull ...
