I know we discussed this at length about a month ago, so to avoid
cluttering up the list again, if anyone has some extra time on their hands
and would like to send some links for a lightweight cockpit-mountable fire
extinguisher, feel free to send them to my address.  I am ready to purchase.

Also:

I purchased and installed a trafficscope VRX.  I am waiting on the antenna
extension to arrive.  Will this antenna need to be upright near the
canopy?  I know their has been much discussion about our VOR antennas and
the like seeing "through" our glass planes.  Could this antenna possibly
work the same, or no?  This is a standard BNC extension.

Halon Blend Units 1211-1301:

- No electrostatic shock to damage avionics

- Colorless, odorless, non-staining

- No impairment of operatorís vision

- Lightweight aluminum canister

- Very effective because Halon 1301, is both
a fire extinguishing agent and a propellant.

- Disposable - no need for a pressure
  gauge or for recharging.

For aviation use only

Traffic monitors receive your transponder replies and compares them to others for the altitude determination from the Mode C altitude squawk and distance from the signal strength.  Any transponder antenna is appropriate since the monitor is working in the transponders frequency range.  Reception is sensitive to antenna orientation and to blockages such as those from the engine, carbon spar caps and people.

Since my Lancair had little space at the top of the dust shield, I first placed the antenna vertically on the hat shelf.  This arrangement worked so-so until I had a passenger along, then it worked less than so-so - especially for traffic out in front and below.  My transponder antenna is on the bottom of an outboard wing panel so the latest iteration was to mount a Comant high speed blade antenna on the bottom of the other wing.  This arrangement seems to work well for me since the only interference between the two antennae is my pitot or the gear when extended in the airport environment - a time when I don't want the monitor to be bleeping away anyhow.
