Flew my 4 for six months in primer and pressurized. We painted the door with the seal in place. We used good quality vinyl electrical tape to mask the seal. Masking tape wouldn't stick to the seal. Paint came out great. Applied a very small bead of white RTV to cover the seam between the frame and the seal.
