….the wingtip profile used for Lancair IV's and ES's.  It has an unusual characteristic in that when reaching or exceeding 22 degrees AoA,  then with reducing AoA the coefficient of lift decreases…   Roberto d'Italia.

 

This analysis is very interesting (not to mention, alarming).  And it is a subject that I have very little knowledge about.  One additional topic that I have not seen discussed on LML is the effect of the addition of the winglet wingtips to the Lancair IV wing.  What are the effects with regard to the stall/spin characteristics that might be predicted with the winglets?  Of the L-IV’s that have been involved in the stall/spin/splat incidents…how many had winglets?
