HI folks,
I've received some complaints about the direction the LML has taken of late... a number of our readers and participants feel that the purpose of the knot/mph discussion had run its course and that much of what is being added at this point no longer adds anything useful to the discussion, and worse, that it detracts from the stated purpose of the LML. I have no interest in starting to censor posts at this time, but in light of the current outcry, I'm going to declare the knot/mph thread a closed issue.
To summarize, while the majority of Lancairs may have instruments that are calibrated in knots, there are a number of them with other instrument markings. We all have the capability of converting one unit of measure to another, and as long as airspeed discussions include the unit of measurement I see no reason to make a big deal of the fact that Mr or Ms X chooses to talk in MPH while Mr or Ms Y prefers knots. We have enough rules in our lives to deal with, and I'm not about to add another to the LML just to eliminate the need to convert miles per hour to knots. Let's deal with it and move on. Thanks for your time.
