Actually the turbines spins on differential pressure and volume. 
 
Talking with my turbo experts at Approved Turbo Components Inc. at Vero Beach--they tell me the part numbers for the "B" and "E" engines are the same.
 
They did tell me that Monte Barrett has discovered a part number replacement for the compressor wheel and scroll which will decrease manifold pressure loss at altitude.
They said over 10 had ordered it.
 
And with more comments (as from Jeff and Hap)  that Magneto crossfire from loss of mag pressurization at altitude -- maybe the turbo's aren't the only place to look.
 
More to follow Monday if I can get in touch with someone at Continental.
